Packaging

Packaging is the process step in which picked or delivered load carriers (PTUs) are checked, consolidated, and assembled into SSCCs ready for transport and customer delivery. It is the direct predecessor of loading or posting.

Packaging in SIEVERS WMS

SIEVERS WMS supports packaging both stationary (via packaging processes in Business Central) and mobile (via A5 Packaging on the MDE device). In both variants, PTUs from picking or warehouse receipt are scanned, SSCCs are created, dimensions and weights are recorded, and labels are printed.

If an SSCC has already been created during picking (Pick & Pack) or series distribution, the packaging process is supplied automatically and a manual packaging step is not required.

Hinweis

A separate packaging process is particularly required when different requirements for transport routes or customer specifications need to be met.

Process Variants

Variant Description When to use?
Mobile Packaging Inspection, consolidation, and SSCC creation via MDE (A5 Packaging) When packaging takes place at the storage location or flexibly
Stationary Packaging Inspection, consolidation, and SSCC creation at a fixed packing station in Business Central When a dedicated packing station with a stationary device is available
Tipp

For simple workflows without a separate packing station, Pick & Pack is suitable, combining picking and packaging in one step.
