Labeling

The labeling process ensures that incoming goods are correctly marked to enable seamless traceability and correct warehouse assignment.

Purpose

Labeling incoming load carriers improves inbound stock posting, picking, and formation of shipping units. It is a central element of traceability in SIEVERS WMS and enables error-free validation of processes. In addition to the mandatory load carrier labeling in the warehouse receipt, inventory and items can optionally also be labeled.

Prerequisites

  • 15a: A commercial warehouse receipt with load carrier lines and pre-printed labels.
  • 15b: Warehouse receipt with blank barcodes — load carrier lines must be created in advance and released for MDE.

When working with pre-printed labels, load carriers must be present in the warehouse receipt. Processing on the MDE device is optional. When using blank barcodes, load carriers are created in the warehouse receipt and then confirmed on the MDE device.

Process Flow

  1. Login on MDE and navigation

    • Select "A1 Warehouse Receipt", select warehouse receipt team (Ctrl+K / F5).
    • Select a warehouse receipt (e.g. WR 21 with pre-print).
  2. Enter and confirm item quantity

    • Enter item number (e.g. 41001301) and confirm quantity.
    • Labels have already been attached to the packages.
    • The employee enters or scans data directly from the package.
  3. Validation by scanning the load carrier label

    • Scan the label to validate the load carrier.
  4. Complete warehouse receipt

    • Load carrier is checked and completed via the "Post Warehouse ceceipt" menu.

Roles

  • Warehouse receipt employee: Responsible for recording and validating labels.

Documents

  • Source documents: Purchase order, inbound stock post order (3PL), return, transfer order.
  • Warehouse receipt: Documentation of recorded and posted warehouse receipts.
  • Inbound stock post and move job.

Setup

  • General Warehouse Receipt/SIEVERS WMS setup required.

Process Integration

Labeling load carriers secures subsequent processes by making inbound stock posting, picking, packaging, and loading more efficient.

  • The mobile warehouse receipt "A1" offers various validation options.
  • If suppliers work with DESADV messages (EDI), supplier portals, or GS1 SSCC labels, labeling of load carriers can be omitted.
