Priority in Warehouse Shipment

The priority in a warehouse shipment defines the processing order for picking documents and packaging operations. It is calculated automatically from the first loading date and the shipping agent, and can be adjusted manually by a dispatcher.

Purpose

  • Define the processing order for picking and packaging operations
  • Ensure time-critical orders are handled first

Description

Picking documents and packaging operations are sorted primarily by the first loading day or week, and secondarily by the calculated priority. The sort order is applied automatically in the mobile MDE dialogs. On printed documents, the priority supports manual sorting, for example in an order slot.

The priority consists of two elements:

  1. Weekday priorities – the first digits of the priority, configured in the SWMS Setup
  2. Priority partial value at the shipping agent – the second element, stored on the shipping agent record

From these two values and the first loading date, the priority is calculated when the warehouse shipment is created and stored at order level in the WS.

Prerequisites

  • Weekday priorities configured in SWMS Setup
  • Priority partial value maintained at the shipping agent

Operation

1. Set up weekday priorities

Define the first digits of the priority in the Weekday Priorities section of the SWMS Setup.

2. Enter the priority partial value at the shipping agent

Enter the remaining priority element on the shipping agent record.

3. Create the warehouse shipment

When the warehouse shipment is created, the priority is calculated from the loading date and the shipping agent, and automatically entered at order level.

4. Manual adjustment

A dispatcher can change the priority manually at order level. If the loading date or shipping agent is changed at the WS level, the priority is automatically reviewed and updated if necessary.

Hinweis

When changed manually at order level, the priority at WS level may be set to a lower value if the new priority is more favorable.

Roles

  • Warehouse dispatcher, warehouse manager
